Looking beautiful on the outside is just not enough. We need all the aesthetics on the inside too. We use plants as a source of elegance. They are pretty, decorative and also refreshing. Not just plants, there are a lot of other styles in interior decors.

The term modern can range in meaning from a super-stark black metal and cold cement square home in the hip part of town to an updated twist on Mid-Century stylings or even a fresh take on a “Farmhouse” aesthetic. At the end of the day, modern really exists in the eye of the beholder. Some highlights of Interior Decors are:

Space – main factor for Interior design

Space is one of the most important elements of interior design space is divided into two types namely – Two Dimensional Space which covers the floor (includes length and width) and Three Dimensional Space which forms the living space (includes length, width, and height). A space that is essentially filled with furniture/décor items is a Positive Space and an empty space is a Negative Space. In the interior design process, “Space planning is first,” says Nesen.

A living room can be fully redesigned with plants as per your interest. Big plants should be placed in the corners of the room. Small plants can be placed in tables present in the living room. Hanging planters can also be used for decoration. There is no set of rules for decorating indoor plants in the living room. Imagination and creativity have no boundaries and limits.

Parlor palm, dracaena and umbrella papyrus are some of the plants to try out for. Use pebbles in the base container of your plants. They absorb the excess water released by pots.

Lines give birth to forms and shapes and are responsible for establishing a sense of harmony, contrast, and unity (3 of the 7 principles) in a living space. They define shapes and act as visual guides of interior space. Lines are broadly categorized into three types – Horizontal, Vertical and Dynamic. While horizontal lines adorn structures likes tables, chairs, and beds, vertical lines can be found on windows, doorways, and almirahs. While horizontal lines add a safe and secure feeling to space, vertical lines emote free and expansive nature.

Forms mean shapes in general, an outline of any three-dimensional object in the space. Forms can be created by combining two or more shapes and can be accentuated with the help of other elements like texture, patterns, and colors. A well-defined form established harmony and additional forms add balance to space. There are two types of forms – Geometric (man-made) and Natural (organic).

Use decorative mirrors to add light
As you’ve seen, mirrors are great for making a small space feel larger. For larger rooms or a room with less natural light, placing mirrors directly across from the windows adds instant brightness. Decorative mirrors can also be used in lieu of art to fill empty wall space. Large or small, mirrors add light and dimension to your living space.

Adding plants to your living space is an inexpensive way to accessorize by adding color and texture. Not only are plants beautiful, but they can also help clean the air in your house and control humidity. House plants keep your home healthy by absorbing pollutants and removing harmful gases from the air. Plus, they make your home feel more alive!

If you have a room that has too little green and too much empty space, a floor plant can be just the right solution.  So take a look around your home. The next time you notice that you have an empty corner, and space just doesn’t feel complete, you might not need to fill it up with more furniture.  A floor plant could be the missing ingredient that completes the room while bringing a new sense of freshness to the decor. It’s important to remember, however, that plants are living things.

Blooming plants have all of the health and aromatherapy benefits of green plants while also giving you an extra pop of color that can really set your room off. Orchids are a long-standing go-to flower among stylists and interior designers because of their sculptural silhouettes and bright, engaging colors.  No matter where you place them in a room set they make a statement that draws the eye and brightens the room, and with good care, they can last a long time.
